Progress Dec 31

Happy New Years to everyone.
Hopefully I can get a celebratory screenshot for 2019.

Myuria’s clothes is finished.
Shining lights can pick it up right now here.
Ember access is in a week.
Everyone else is in two weeks.

What!? It’s only been 2/3 days since I finished the November commission!?
There’s no breaks on this train.
I originally wanted to take a break over the weekend and maybe work on custom clothes, but I decided I want to finish everything asap.
I don’t know where my drive came from, but I hope it stays at least for the month of Janurary.
(The new workflow helps too.)

Even though I’m technically on schedule, I’m still technically behind a month in terms of commissions.

The schedule is as follows:

Yikes. That’s 31 days right there, give or take a few days here and there.
I originally wanted to do a test suit after every public mod, but that’ll just add additional time, so doing it after every patreon mod would suffice.

If I can finish all of this this month, it opens February a lot for whatever.

For now, I want to rest for New Years Eve.
Test mods and the commission will be worked on afterwards. The upcoming public commission is actually quite easy.

Progress Dec 28

H27 is now available to the public. You can pick it up here.
Cleric is public next week. If you wish to support me, you can get it early here.

I’ve been posting a lot this week.

I completed the last November commissioned yesterday night and will be working like mad to get the Poll Winner done, and it looks like it’s Myuria! The reason being I actually want Janurary open as much as possible.

I updated the Yorha Commander Mod. This quick and dirty fix attempts to make the Leotard whole. I’ve also fixed some areas that went unnoticed, mostly relating to the body and boots.
The project files for this set is a mess.

Test mods have helped me increase my modding speed by quite a lot. After I finish Myuria, I’ll need to bang out another suit. Going back and forth between loose clothes and tight clothes seemed to have help.
A clean mesh helps even more.

I reserved more studio slots for later use.

The new poll is here. Patrons can vote or make suggestions here.

Midweek Progress Report

The final November commission is now being worked on.
A refresher schedule of sorts.

1: Private commission
2: Poll winner
3: Public commission

And that’s all for that.

For Patrons:

I banged out two speed test mods over Christmas to try out. If you’re a Radiant patron, you can play with the test mods and leave your thoughts here.
Don’t forget to leave your thoughts and comments (and maybe even requests).
For former Radiant patrons, you can find the set uploaded to the link sent out earlier this month.

Note: These mods are haphazardly slapped together with no regards to optimization or quality. This allows me to try on clothes as fast as possible without having to clean and polish everything, or set up unique and long list files.

Here are my thoughts on the current set of clothes being tested.

1: Snow White
This is actually pretty old. I manually cut out the skin portions, but the textures and maps are very, very low quality JPGs. It might look good from afar, but it has quite a number of problems up close. Also, it came with gloves and I hate working on gloves due to the tedious nature of it.
Possible candidate. The nature of it makes it look good, but the quality of it is really not up to par.
Priority: Mid

2: Rena Lanford
A single texture map. High quality, but low in resolution. This is actually a good candidate for a standalone release, but it suffers from the same issue as the Kokoro set of casual clothes around the shoulder.
Priority: High

3: Dark Magician Girl
Turning this asset into a real mod probably won’t be a good idea. the proportions is too hard to work with. Textures are pretty plain too, with painted shines.
It actually might be better to use the model as a reference and make a custom model instead.
Due the the size of the shoulders, there shouldn’t be that much of an issue like in Kokoro’s case.
Priority: Low

4: Himiko Toga
HS should probably have several mods that can recreate Himiko’s base form just fine. It’s just missing the large muffler.
The asset has no other textures aside from the diffuse, so it probably needs some work in Zbrush or Substance to give it more life, especially for the sweater.
Priority: Low

Progress Dec 24

Polls are up. Patrons of any tier can vote here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/23524316

I took a look into some Bless armor. Hopefully I didn’t pick one out that’s already been ported over.

I will try and get a test suit out soon for Radiants.
I spent most of the weekend banging out a double commission. As of this post, I’m on the final stretch which involves only building the materials, list, and final tests, if any, in-game.

I’ll get right on a test suit as soon as I’m done, then I’ll work on the last commission for November.

I want to try and get December commissions started this month to open up to hopefully clear as much as I can for January.

Progress Dec 21–Mods and Workflow

H27 is now available early for embers.
Pick it up early here, or to give a helping hand!

Battle Cleric is completed.
Shining Lights can pick it up early here.

I originally wanted to try and finish this on a Wednesday, but I overestimated my own abilities. It was finished Friday Morning, and polished again for several hours to try and get the dynamics just right, especially on necklace. It’s by far probably my best necklace yet, being really boob friendly!

With this, I probably won’t have much to repot on for a week or so because the next two projects are private commissions.
I will try and get the new poll up over the weekends as well as another test suit.

Workflow

I’ve mentioned this several times in the past, and I thought I should sum it up since it’s a nice history lesson.

Workflow 1: My introduction to modding – Ending with Haven Trooper
Step 1: Find unity3d files with bone structures I can borrow.
Step 2: Create an empty asset bundle to house my mod data.
Step 3: Find materials to use.
Step 4: Copy everything necessary into empty asset bundle.
Step 5: Start replacing existing assets with custom assets.

Somewhere between  Workflow 1 and 2, I learned how to make dynamic accessories.

Workflow 2: Intro into Unity – Starting with Shanoa
Empty asset bundle and materials are created in unity, and exported with a generic asset bundle exporter. Existing assets and custom assets are pasted into that bundle, then everything is put together.

Workflow 3: Joan the Savior – Starting with the Luxury Swimsuit
Step 1: Export all assets to Unity
Step 2: Set up materials, and nesting hierarchy.
Step 3: Export.
Step 4: Do any additional nml adjustments or shader replacements.
I started Workflow 3 to take full advantage of Joan’s shaders and his bonesframework.

And there you have it.

For a more versatile option, please see IK Items mod.

For a newer version of this model in a different mod:
https://antekorama.blogspot.com/2020/04/studio-ik-penis.html

An update to the skyrim dick mod.

Version A: Dynamics added. The shaft is slightly bouncy and the balls move. It retains the original shader. Should be compatible old scenes.
Version B: Less dynamic. Extraneous colliders removed since they caused more problems than good. Uses new dual color shader.
Version C: New dick. Only the balls move. Uses new dual color shader. Best used with HSPE and for animators.

Monday Progress Dec 17

Since I had the materials set up beforehand when I was doing the polls, I didn’t have to set them up again which meant I could jump right into cleaning and outfitting.

Cleaning is done, and outfitting is almost done. I think the difficult part will be the necklace (not shown) since it’s very wide. It could work as an accessory…

I’m not sure when I’ll get this one done, but it should be before Friday at the current rate.
(It’s also not a Bethesda asset, which meant I didn’t have to deal with the issues they always pose. Also, no gloves!)

Afterwards, you won’t hear much from me for about a week due to commissions. The next poll should go up during this time.

On Sunday, I decided to take a bit of time to test some things.

I’d say the result turned out quite well. This workflow can let met create custom mesh extremely fast, faster than chiseling away at a cube. The only issue following is that I’ll have to unfold the UVs and atlas them in such a way I can easily work with the textures.

Now, actually creating the textures? Maybe some other day…

Progress Report Dec 15

It’s pretty late while I’m typing this.

Since H27 is done, and set for public release, I’ll be working on the Battle Nun outfit. After that, the next two mods after that are private commissions. I’ll be posting up the new poll then as well.

Rebel is public, if you missed that.

H27 Has been released. If you’re a shining light or above, you can pick it up right here.
For everyone else, check back next week or the week after!

Ended up messing around with some shaders while I was working on the finishing touches for H27.
Joan’s shader has an emission map which can be used to make things glow in the darkest of dark. Works really well with Renderer Editor, but I don’t have anything else that can make use of emissions at the moment other than the Raccoon City set, but my current workflow hasn’t been set for repairing old mods, sadly.

Planning on either doing a quick test rig of this or another flat chested clothes. I might as well check to see what’s cute.

If the test mod comes to fruition, it will be posted here for Radiants or the link sent out last month.

Progress Dec 10

Taking some time during downtime to write up some stuff.

Almost done with this set. I just need to finish outfitting gloves, then I can got right to skinning and texture work.

It’s a rather simple set. The texture is plain as it can get, so it’ll probably be a lightweight mod. But because it’s a Bethesda thing, outfitting took a bit of time as always.

Also, to prepare for the next mod, which will be public, I decided to waste some bandwidth and pick up Tera.
Instead of dealing with Skyrim variants of Tera armors, I now have access to the raw textures and mesh.

I also have Bless in the backburner, but I have yet to delve into what it has and how I can get it.

This basically means I shouldn’t have to deal with second hand or third party ports for these sets.

If you’re wondering why I’m typing this now, I’m using the kr nexon launcher to download KR Tera, and it lags a lot. It lags so much that my computer suffers huge performance drops doing basic tasks like dragging windows around.

Progress Report Dec 7

Quite a few things.

  • Added ripped textures to a private mod. About 2~ days. Needed to find where the seams where, needed to separate the mesh into top and bottom sections, and needed to rebuild the hierarchy.
  • Did a quick swimsuit private commission. Total time was roughly two days.
  • Made an old mod thicker on request. About 1 day of waiting for maya to respond. This is one not being shared because only one person had problems.
  • This weekend is going to be spent on doing the last private commission for October.
  • After that I’ll be doing the public commission armor, and then finally the battle nun outfit.
The poll will end at this time as well.

I want to try and at least get started on December commission this month, but we’ll see.

Rebel outfit is now available for embers.
Public release is next Friday

Progress Report, Dec 1st

The asset was one of the cleanest DAZ assets I’ve worked with so far.
Rebel will be public on December 14th, week early access on the 7th.

There’s not much to say on this other than the fact that I spent only a few days on this because it was so clean.

My weekend isn’t too hot either. I have some housework that needs to be done, and have gotten 3 requests to do a few extra things relating to mods.
I also still have a commission I need to work on, so I’m technically one mod behind schedule.

I will begin work on the last commission for last month asap. This will be private.
Followed by a public commission.
Followed by the poll winner.
Followed by two more commission. One of which is most likely private.

Also, test mod is live. I want to try and get one out every weekend, or every time I release a public mod, but I want to get my schedule in line to a point I’m not working on requests from last month.

Gloves. It never gets easier. The picture is of me lining of the original HS mesh so I can transfer the weights and weight paint in a different pose.
This is also a bethesda conversion, and I really hate doing those.

I want to try and get this done asap, but it looks like my weekend is going to be full with this commission and the next. Ideally, I want to get things done before Thanksgiving break, so I can begin working on the poll winner.

If you’ve been keeping track of my Patreon postings, a new $10 tier has been added for people who only want early access. Those who remain in the $15 will get access to test mods to make up for the lack of beta mods due to a change in workflow.
Sorry, I don’t have anything ready yet.

In other news, I accidentally nuked my HS install due to a dumb error on my part. But that’s fine. I have backups so restoring everything took only ~30 minutes of my time.

Fixing the remaining stuff will have to to be later.

Progress Nov 9th

I’ve finally finished the Vampire Slayer set. This was was actually quite easy, but tedious. There was a lot of things I needed to take a good look at, like split mesh and underside meshes.

If you're a patron, you can look at a few previews here.
If you’re a second mate, you can pick it up now here.

Next up I’ll be working on a hefty mod. Due to some technicalities will be private.
The next commissioned mod after that might be private too.

After those two, Dark Rebel will be worked on.

After that is commissions again. Private most likely.
Then Public.

I think that assets with a lot of little doodads take a lot longer than poly heavy single meshes. The Gunslinger Elena maid set of clothes suffered the same issue of having many pieces despite being low poly, while some Daz clothes ended up being quick despite being extremely high poly.

If you’re a patron, please see this post for important info regarding changes in pledges. If you’re not a patron, please look at it anyways if you wish to become a future patron!

I did some math in maya for animation to get more natural bends in the joints. It didn’t take long, but now I need to plan and build the control rig and FK IK nodes as well as reverse foot rigs, and that takes quite a bit time so will be on hold for a while.

Progress Nov 2nd

By lord this is tedious!

According to my master list, I’ve done over a lot of gloves. However, they never get easier. It’s the same amount of tedium as always.

This non-patron commission was a pretty hefty one too, with ornate designs pretty much everywhere. The dress (ack!), the gloves, the boots, the top, the hair…

I may have to charge a little more for things like this in the future.

As of this post, I’m at the final phase and can begin Vampire Slayer too.

[Download] Dance Animations + Blogging

I made a Zappa some time ago for Halloween, why not make him do something?

I took another look at the HS rig for both male and female and was able to set some expressions to make use of the extra roll joints. Combined with retargeting, it makes for better deformations, but still not perfect.

Controls haven’t been planned out at all, so making custom animations is going to be on hold for a while. The most I can do at the moment is retarget. That doesn’t require a custom control rig.

============================================================================

I didn’t want to share these because, not only are the animations a little glitchy, 50mb zipped up is too much.

Important note: This mod will replace these files:
abdata\studioneo\anim\female\00.unity3d
abdata\studioneo\anim\male\00.unity3d

Please make a back-up of those files.

This mod will replace the Males flex pose into Thriller.
This mod will replace females model poses for the chairs into Thriller and two Vindictus dances as seen here.
It might’ve been a better idea to replace other animations. Since I don’t use a lot of preset poses, I just chose these since it was easier to locate and replace.

Download Link: https://mega.nz/#!DRUw3STY!ZmIH04xQxZQeQ5xt4_XSxAWS8t_d8GZ0HS43yNGnwoU

Note: Due to the finnicky nature of some of the rigs, retargeted animations are sometimes glitchy, especially when the source and target rigs are really different.

Note2: If the animation looks funky with legs floating around, save and reload the scene or go to T-Pose and back to dance. I haven’t figured out what exactly causes this, but it isn’t a huge issue right now.

Note3: Thriller was stitched together from 5 Mixamo preset animations, so the timing starts to go off by a lot in the halfway point. I hope you’re not planning to sync it up to the music without video editing.

Progress Report 10/28/18

I have finished the swimsuit commission. Previously it was an armor commission, but situations changed. Despite it being only 1 swimsuit, it had extra designs that needed a bit of attention.
Patrons can pick it up early here.
For everyone else, check next week or on the 11th.

Looks like I won’t make it to Vampire Slayer before Halloween. Last weeks gig took out a lot of time, and I have a non-patron commission lined up.

Vampire Slayer will start afterwards.

Also, vote if you haven’t.

Progress Report 10 26 2018

Ran into a problem.

I finally got a small gig that I needed to work on, but the client didn’t have any of the rigging or controls for the models he wanted animated, so I had to rebuild most of the stuff, and then animate his characters.

It’s been a long time since I had to rig two handed weapons, so I made a lot of mistakes that required me to go back and rethink the character rigging multiple times.

But I’m done, and the weekend is going to be busy!

I want to sleep early too.

Due to how long it took me, the commissioner decided to switch their commission to something else. Instead of the armor, it’ll be a two color channel swimsuit.
Truth be told, the armor wasn’t that hot. It was a mashup of stuff from various place. The shoulder pads in particular where from some Castanic armor.

Working with the Skyrim bodies is so icky.

Original post: Here

A difficult port, just because of the breasts.

Another person had already ported this, but I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at it from a good friend to learn what I should do to make this one the best quality as possible, so I lifted a couple techniques.

Funnily enough, for as great as Nier: Automata is, the texturing are always questionable at best. I’m basically saying, the original Kaine costume looks better than the 2B one.

Pretty easy fitting, but I am preoccupied with another important task at the moment.
What needs to be done:
  • Overall quality outfitting: Get the clothes closer to the body.
  • Make list files
After working with the texture some more, I was able to solve most of my gripes with the model.
I should be done on Wednesday.
Afterwards, I’ll be jumping on two more private commissions then finally, hopefully, ending the month with the poll winner.

Progress Report Oct 12

Finished a commission that dealt with a lot of cutouts. Cutouts have, up till this point, have always been a pain for me because I just couldn’t get them to work.

Well, it turns out there was a very easy solution sitting under my nose. The Yayoi armor set from the party DLC has a cutout material with shader already set, so all I had to do was inherit the properties from that instead of trying to simply switching over to the 2 color channel shader.

Looking at my backlog, the only clothes that’ll benefit from this fix is the early Age of Gunslingers Maid uniform. Daidouji’s clothes might benefit from this as well, but it already has a workaround.

Oh, this essentially means that future Vindictus clothes won’t stall my progress, because they employ the use of cutouts quite a bit too.

I will begin working on the Chun-Li uniform over the weekend. I’m expecting it to be quick, but the mesh needs some work, like most DAZ meshes in general…

Valve Biped Animation Export Test (Vindictus)

https://gfycat.com/weeklyfittingeuropeanfiresalamander

https://gfycat.com/cleanterrificblackfly

This is an animation retargetting test to HumanIK with the Valve Biped rig. Unfortunately, this isn’t a clean retarget.
I ripped the bones and animations from the game files, so I had to readjust orientation and the likes. Elbow breaks galore.
Vella’s dance animation took a bit of manual adjustments to lessen the elbow break.

Other dance animation that was tested was Arisha’s, but the arm and elbow didn’t really follow, and I didn’t want to manually re-key those areas.

Ouch!

This is probably just a limit with humanIK system in regards to the arms. That or the compatibility between to two rigs.

Original patreon post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/21528812

Experimental Animation

This is an animation test using animation retargeting with some Mixamo animations.
Auto rigs are horrible with Honey Select's skeleton, so it'll have to be built manually. Thankfully, NEO and HSPE do joint auto corrections, so if you really want to use an auto rig, you can. This is useful for animation retargeting.

Some things that needs to be investigated:
  • Male animations and how their dick works.
  • Animation blending with Pattern and Auxiliary.
  • What joints need to be corrected. (Neo and HSPE joint corrections handles most of these)
  • What joints does the game ignore (for physics).
  • What the extra joints are for. Right now, they seem useless, but I don't want to rule anything out.
  • How to add new entries to the animation list. Currently, I only know how to replace.
Because HS seems to be using the same skeleton across their games, animations done in either should work? Questions for another time...

Raccoon City Pack Ver 1.01

This is a repacked version of my old set of mods with some minor changes.

Textures are pretty dark, so you have to remember to bump up the intensity sliders a bit.

Version 1.00

  • Slot IDs have been adjusted for old masks.
  • Beltway has an alternate costume with both legs. Good for if you need a demolitions expert.
  • Compressed overall size.
  • Costumes with certain masks will autohide the body when worn.

Version 1.01

  • Changed materials for all masks from PBRsp_3mask_uv to PBRsp_3mask.
I used 3mask_uv because I had some success with them a long time ago during experimentation, before learning about color masks.
  • By using HSUS 1.6.0 and bloom, you can make the lenses glow by increasing the brightness values. You no longer have to do weird lighting tricks.
